Montrose was fairly birdy this morning, especially for Empidonax <\/em>flycatchers, American Redstarts, and Common Yellowthroats. Here’s some of what I saw in about an hour and a half:<\/p>\n

Lesser Scaup – 1 male in Lake Michigan just off the beach
\nHorned Grebe – 1 in full breeding plumage just off the beach
\nSemipalmated Sandpiper – ~50
\nPectoral Sandpiper – 1
\nSemipalmated Plover – 1
\nYellow-billed Cuckoo – 1 seen and heard giving the “rain crow” call
\nRuby-throated Hummingbird – 1
\nOlive-sided Flycatcher – 1
\nEastern Wood-Pewee – ~5
\nYellow-bellied Flycatcher – 6
\nLeast Flycatcher – 3
\nWillow Flycatcher – 3
\nWillow\/Alder Flycatcher – ~4
\nPhiladelphia Vireo – 1
\nBlue Jay – ~40 migrating west
\nSwainson’s Thrush – 3
\nVeery – 1
\nYellow-rumped Warbler – 1
\nCape May Warbler – 1
\nMagnolia Warbler – ~4
\nBlack-throated Green Warbler – 1
\nBlack-throated Blue Warbler – 1 female
\nCanada Warbler – 3
\nWilson’s Warbler – ~6
\nOvenbird – 1
\nCommon Yellowthroat – ~15
\nAmerican Redstart – ~15
\nLincoln’s Sparrow – 2
\nWhite-throated Sparrow – 1
