It never ceases to amaze me what a couple days of south winds can do in spring. In about an hour and a half I saw the following birds (not a complete list):<\/p>\n<p>Piping Plover &#8211; 1, the unbanded male<br \/>\nAmerican Avocets &#8211; 2, flew in from the south and landed on the beach around 6:30<br \/>\nLittle Blue Heron &#8211; 1 adult flying south over Lake Michigan with 2 Great Blue Herons<br \/>\nGreen Heron &#8211; 1<br \/>\nRed-headed Woodpecker &#8211; 1 near the golf course pond<br \/>\nYellow-bellied Sapsucker &#8211; 1<br \/>\nLeast Flycatcher &#8211; 1<br \/>\nGreat Crested Flycatcher &#8211; 1<br \/>\nEastern Kingbird &#8211; 3<br \/>\nSedge Wren &#8211; 1 in the meadow<br \/>\nHouse Wren &#8211; ~5<br \/>\nBlue-gray Gnatcatcher &#8211; 2<br \/>\nVeery &#8211; ~4<br \/>\nSwainson&#8217;s Thrush &#8211; 3<br \/>\nGray-cheeked Thrush &#8211; 1<br \/>\nGray Catbird &#8211; 3<br \/>\nAmerican Pipit &#8211; 1<br \/>\nOrange-crowned Warbler &#8211; 2<br \/>\nNashville Warbler &#8211; 1<br \/>\nYellow-rumped Warbler &#8211; ~40<br \/>\nPalm Warbler &#8211; ~20<br \/>\nBlack-throated Green Warbler &#8211; 1<br \/>\nYellow Warbler &#8211; 2<br \/>\nHooded Warbler &#8211; 1 female in the Magic Hedge<br \/>\nOvenbird &#8211; 1<br \/>\nYellow-breasted Chat &#8211; 1 near the water feature<br \/>\nAmerican Redstart &#8211; 1<br \/>\nField Sparrow &#8211; 1<br \/>\nHenslow&#8217;s Sparrow &#8211; 1 in the meadow<br \/>\nSavannah Sparrow &#8211; ~30<br \/>\nSwamp Sparrow &#8211; ~40<br \/>\nLincoln&#8217;s Sparrow &#8211; ~10<br \/>\nWhite-throated Sparrow &#8211; +<br \/>\nWhite-crowned Sparrow &#8211; ~10<br \/>\nBobolink &#8211; 1 male<br \/>\nPurple Finch &#8211; 1<\/p>\n<p>I probably missed a few things but you get the idea.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Montrose was really hopping this morning.
