This morning I kicked one up out of the western panne in the dunes. The bird flew out over the lake and circled around a few times before I walked away and lost sight of it. This is typical Short-eared Owl behavior at Montrose, and sometimes they come back and sometimes they don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Migration is really winding down, especially passerine migration, but I did have a few other birds, including:<\/p>\n<p>Great Black-backed Gull &#8211;  1 second cycle type<br \/>\nSanderling &#8211; 2<br \/>\nRuby-crowned Kinglet &#8211; 1<br \/>\nGolden-crowned Kinglet &#8211; 1<br \/>\nHermit Thrush &#8211; ~10<br \/>\nYellow-rumped Warbler &#8211; 1<br \/>\nPalm Warbler &#8211; 1<br \/>\nWinter Wren &#8211; 2<br \/>\nAmerican Pipit &#8211; 1<br \/>\nSwamp Sparrow &#8211; 1<br \/>\nWhite-crowned Sparrow &#8211; 1<br \/>\nSavannah Sparrow &#8211; 1<br \/>\nPine Siskin &#8211; ~40<br \/>\nLapland Longspur &#8211; 2<br \/>\nRusty Blackbird &#8211; 1<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s about everything.
