I was near the north end of the Magic Hedge when I noticed Geoff Williamson looking at and then pointing to something. I assumed he had the thrasher and when I got closer I could see the bird perched near the top of a Jack Pine. The thrasher posed obligingly for a minute or 2 before flying about 50 yards to the east and disappearing into the underbrush. I didn&#8217;t follow it but I assume it&#8217;s still in the area.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1172\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/theorniphile.info\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/clay-colored-sparrow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1172\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1172\" title=\"Clay-colored Sparrow\" src=\"http:\/\/theorniphile.info\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/clay-colored-sparrow-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Clay-colored Sparrow\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/theorniphile.info\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/clay-colored-sparrow-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/theorniphile.info\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/clay-colored-sparrow-150x112.jpg 150w, http:\/\/theorniphile.info\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/clay-colored-sparrow.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clay-colored Sparrow (<em>click to see the larger version<\/em>)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Geoff also alerted me to a Clay-colored Sparrow he heard singing near the Park Bait Shop while driving in. I went over to the area and after a little poking around found the Clay-colored in the group of small evergreens just across the road from the Park Bait Shop. This is a very unusual sighting as Clay-colored Sparrows don&#8217;t normally occur at Montrose in late June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Curve-billed Thrasher was still at Montrose early this morning, June 29.
